How they met - By the Groom-to-be
September 5, 2010 - It was just another day, after all the hustle and bustle of Lagos. I decided to spend the rest of the day on my Blackberry and its numerous social media platforms. I was going through my contacts' updates when Chidinma (a mutual friend) put Simi's picture on her display picture (dp). I liked the way she looked (cute, but a bit tomboyish), and I decided to give it a shot.

Chidinma initially refused to hook me up and said I was bad news for the innocent gorl. Eventually, she gave in, asked Simi if she could give me her pin (and she agreed nonchalantly). I buzzed her and we started chatting. We talked about everything including football, she's a Man Utd fan while I gun people down for a living (i am an Arsenal fan), we exchanged ideas and pictures. She was too real and that is a major turn on for me (no photoshop things). I couldn't stop calling and pinging her (she was serving in Katsina while I was in Lagos).

Simi came back to Lagos after her service year (1 month after we started chatting). I offered to pick her up from the airport. She politely refused and asked me to come see her later at her friend's (Isioma) house in GRA (wise move, considering the many cases of kidnappers at that time).

I put on a fresh Polo shirt and combed my afro for like 30minutes (lol). It worked. As soon as I got out of the car, she and her friend smiled like I had known them for ages (fine boy). Anywayz, we were both happy to see each other and we hit it off immediately. After a couple of days, I asked her to be my "girlie o". The rest they say is history.

She makes me click all the time. She's completely amazing. She's the kinda girl that your friends see as "one of the guys", and they are comfortable when she's around. She's gorgeous and prayerful. Her food keeps me asking for more (I am definitely getting fat, lol) even though you have to be in the kitchen helping out (always). Our arguments are always constructive and short. We end all our quarrels on the same day. Amongst everything and the ones I didn't mention, she's my best friend and I am glad I glanced at Chee gal's dp for more than a second. I love my baby (Simone) and I will always love her, no matter what. Simi's the one for Yokee.

How he proposed - By the Bride-to-be
It was a Saturday, and my girls and I had planned to hang out later that evening. I was chilling with my boo, lazying around while waiting to leave for the hangout spot at a particular time, so as not to get there too early. Ayokunle also had plans with his boys (or so I thought), and kept hurrying me up so we could leave together. I finally put on a dress and flat sandals (with no makeup on), and he asked a funny question…"baby won't you at least paint your nails?". I told him I was just going to have dinner & chill jare, so there was no need for that.

Sewa (a friend) and I went to meet up with the others. We were at the restaurant waiting for the last person to complete the bunch, and Toyosi insisted I put on lip gloss, which I did just to make her happy. While the others were pondering what to order, I was busy watching my game (as a loyal Man United fan). Ijay finally arrived and called Toyosi to come and help her re-park her car, which was quite strange but I was too engrossed in the game. we finally ordered (after specially requesting for our 'padi' waiter) and started eating.

We were having a laugh when I noticed my friends were looking towards the door. I turned around and saw my boo's brother and a couple of friends walking towards our table, carrying bottles of champagne and a box (which I later found out was a cake). I was still trying to figure out what was happening when Ayokunle walked to my seat, got on two knees (lol) and pulled out a ring.

I actually moved away from him due to shock, but Ngozi was quick to push me back towards him. He said "Simisola mi, I've loved you from the first day we met"…and I honestly can't remember any other thing he said. Next thing I hear is "aaaawwww" from everyone around, and after what seemed like an eternity, I heard someone say "she never talk yes o". So I nodded and he PUT A RING ON IT.

Introduction Pictures
Simisola calls him Ayokunle mi, Ayo mi, Care bear while Ayokunle calls her Sunshine, Pumpkin, Simone. Simisola was attracted to his smile while Ayokunle was attracted to her "girl next door look". Our compatibility is beyond comprehension. We love football, music, video games, movies, food and chilling. We embrace our differences as they help us bond on another level. All in all, we compliment each other well.
