How they met - By the Groom-to-be
September 5, 2010 - It was just another day, after all the hustle and bustle of Lagos. I decided to spend the rest of the day on my Blackberry and its numerous social media platforms. I was going through my contacts' updates when Chidinma (a mutual friend) put Simi's picture on her display picture (dp). I liked the way she looked (cute, but a bit tomboyish), and I decided to give it a shot.
Chidinma initially refused to hook me up and said I was bad news for the innocent gorl. Eventually, she gave in, asked Simi if she could give me her pin (and she agreed nonchalantly). I buzzed her and we started chatting. We talked about everything including football, she's a Man Utd fan while I gun people down for a living (i am an Arsenal fan), we exchanged ideas and pictures. She was too real and that is a major turn on for me (no photoshop things). I couldn't stop calling and pinging her (she was serving in Katsina while I was in Lagos).
Simi came back to Lagos after her service year (1 month after we started chatting). I offered to pick her up from the airport. She politely refused and asked me to come see her later at her friend's (Isioma) house in GRA (wise move, considering the many cases of kidnappers at that time).
I put on a fresh Polo shirt and combed my afro for like 30minutes (lol). It worked. As soon as I got out of the car, she and her friend smiled like I had known them for ages (fine boy). Anywayz, we were both happy to see each other and we hit it off immediately. After a couple of days, I asked her to be my "girlie o". The rest they say is history.
She makes me click all the time. She's completely amazing. She's the kinda girl that your friends see as "one of the guys", and they are comfortable when she's around. She's gorgeous and prayerful. Her food keeps me asking for more (I am definitely getting fat, lol) even though you have to be in the kitchen helping out (always). Our arguments are always constructive and short. We end all our quarrels on the same day. Amongst everything and the ones I didn't mention, she's my best friend and I am glad I glanced at Chee gal's dp for more than a second. I love my baby (Simone) and I will always love her, no matter what. Simi's the one for Yokee.

WNS: Dupe's surprise bridal shower
How I
planned her Surprise Bridal Shower - Tokunbo Kassim
I live in Scotland so planning a bridal shower virtually which was to take place in Lagos was not an easy task.
I started by creating a group on BBM and when we both traveled to New York to buy her wedding dress and all, I sneaked into her phone and copied pins of her friends and added them. Also, got help from her close friend (Jumoke Lawal) as Dupe likes to save people's names with nicknames so it was hard to tell who is male or female. The group got interactive and then when I got back to Scotland, I got all the bridal balloons, banners, sachets and decorations for the venue.

Guest Post: How to choose a Flower girl dress
Grooming a flower girl for a wedding ceremony represents a sweet but
quite demanding task. The role of flower girls is really solemn and charming
and they usually look that way on the wedding day, but the rocky road to such
an outcome is full of bumps and unexpected traps.
The role of a flower girl is walking in front of the bride and throwing petals
of flowers down the aisle, as a sort of symbolical path for the bride and her
about-to-be act of steeping into the marriage. Since this girl scatters flower
(or parts of it), she is called the flower girl. While this custom is really
adorable, the process of choosing and dressing up a flower girl is not that
easy.

Well,
we attended the same School in 2004 but we were just what they call ‘hi-hi’

at some night party back then in school which was really weird as we had never
chatted much prior to that party and then he ended the chat with, ‘Something
tells me you are my Soul Mate’ and I just laughed and called him Joker. I changed
schools shortly, like 2months after the party.

WNS: Jenny Packham 2015 Bridal Collection
The Jenny Packham 2015 Bridal Collection is inspired by the photographs of British society photographer, Madame Yevonde. In the 1930’s, the dawn of colour photography, Yevonde created a series of portraits of society ladies dressed in classical costumes, known as ‘The Goddesses’. Her stylised images of mythological heroines – Helen of Troy, Persephone, Venus - captured an ancient world of antiquity, within a modern and hauntingly beautiful treatment. The colours Madame Yevonde used; soft, tonal, always romantic, and the feminine way she played with light and colour to create a hazy, neoclassical ambiance, directly influence the design and palette of this season’s collection.
Soft buttermilks, champagnes and warm blush caramel tones in sumptuous silk chiffon and ethereal tulle compliment traditional classic ivory. Celestial capes, whimsical tiered hemlines and exquisite veils add a romantic, mythical affection to the collection whilst delicate French lace is adorned with signature beading and twinkling crystals in an array of molten golds, antique metallic silvers and rich alabasters.

Guest Post: Wedding Photography Trends for This Summer/Winter
No matter if you live on the northern or the
southern hemisphere, the difference in seasons will not stop you from getting
married if your decision is firm and your partner the right one. When it comes
to this year’s trends, some of them are newly introduced, such as photo booths,
while the features such as the wedding cake and the wedding gown remain the
same and they follow old path.
Wedding photos –
food for soul kitchen
Although it is also important to take good care of
the wining and dining part of the wedding, you do that mostly because of your
guests. Every couple that is getting married wants to treat their dearest
chosen guests with high respect and delicious specialties. In addition to that,
a rich abundance of drinks will make your invitees relax and turn your wedding
into a great party. However, all this matters while the reception is still
rocking. The days after the wedding will be spent reminiscing about the whole
event and that is most easily done through pictures and videos. Considering all
these aspects, the wedding photography is as important as the catering and the bar service. It is an essential part of the
wedding and the period afterwards.

Guest Post: Stylish wedding - How to choose your wedding accessories?
When the day of your wedding finally comes, you will most probably be over the moon with joy and excitement. Most couples fall into the state of overwhelming emotions, which usually turns off all other receptors for the outside world. In the middle of such a flood of various feelings, many things can be forgotten about or neglected. Due to all these features and emotional turmoil that affects pre-wedding couples, the best method for taking care for everything is deal with all the organisational issues beforehand, i.e. not wait the last moment to make a wedding bouquet or have it made. Probably the most important decision that you could make in the wedding-preparation process is that one. If things and items from your pre-wedding to-do list are solved in advance, you will have more time to adjust your emotions to the right level and manage all the expected (and unexpected) sub-events that might happen during that super-event.

Guest Post: Fabulous bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts
7 Fabulous Bridesmaids and Groomsmen Gifts
Picking out a gift for someone is hard enough, but it gets even more
challenging when you have to shop for several bridesmaids and groomsmen who
have varying tastes and personalities. For soon-to-be married couples who are
stuck and cannot figure out what to give their dear friends as a token of
appreciation for helping celebrate their union below are excellent suggestions.
Bridesmaids
Gifts
There is no woman who would turn down three days and two nights of mind-numbing pampering, especially when it is free. Brides usually invite their closest female friends to their wedding so giving the girls the pampering of a lifetime is always a winner. The spa certificates can be for the same package, or you may also opt for varied treatments to suit the preferences of each bridesmaid.
Among the most popular treatments include rejuvenating facials, deep tissue massage, detox salt baths, and mineral mud wrapping. Any of these treatments would certainly be appreciated by your bridesmaids.
Newbury Monogram Fluorescent White Note by Crane & Co. |
Personalized Scented Stationery If your bridesmaids still subscribe to the merits of putting pen on paper and leaving quick notes as opposed to text messaging, a set of personalized stationery would make for a great gift.
Certain high-end stationery stores (many of which can be found online) can create lovely scents specifically for stationery, and you even get to pick from a wide array of fragrances.
Satin Print Roll Clutch by Roberto Cavalli |
Classy Clutch Bags
There are very few women in the world who would turn down a free bag, especially one that is one-of-a-kind. Classy clutches would definitely count as a very thoughtful gift your bridesmaids, especially if they can be used for casual as well as formal events. The clutch bags can come in any color, shape, size, and accents (i.e., sequins etc.).
Added bonus: You can pick out something that your bridesmaids can bring to the wedding.

WNS: From Bridesmaid & Groomsman to Bride & Groom - Ejiro & Busola's Pre-wedding video and pictures
According to Olu 'Today, I want to share with you, the pre wedding video of a lovely couple. Their love story is definitely inspiring. Ejiro was a bridesmaid and Busola, a groomsman at a wedding several years ago. One thing led to the other and they became friends. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship and very soon, they will take a walk down the aisle.
Their pre-wedding video is an attempt to re-create their first meeting while having fun at the same time. Ejiro wrote and performed the first track sampled in the video as a surprise dedication to Busola. I particularly like the portion that says "This is the Lord's doing; the world cannot stop this".

WNS: From University to the altar 'Eromon & Kelechi's' Pre-wedding pictures
Bride to be: Eromon Okonofua Deborah
Groom to be: Kelechi Iwu Fides
According to the Bride to be
We met in school - University of Benin - where we
were classmates. We actually didn't know each other beyond facial recognition
because our class was so big, but in 500L, our penultimate year 2008, we were
given a group project. We both put it off till it was getting late then we were
each hard pressed to find partners for our projects. A mutual friend introduced
us for that purpose and we've been friends ever since. Sometime in early 2009,
we playfully placed a bet. I bet that he couldn't make me fall in love with him
and he bet that he could and we shook on it. Needless to say we both lost the
bet because we fell hopelessly in love with each other. We started dating in
final year, 2009 December.
The Proposal
On May 5th, 2013, he invited my sisters and their
families over to his place for lunch under the pretense of showing them the new
flat he got. He had already told my sisters what he planned to do. In the
middle of it, he got down on both knees and, brought out a ring box, opened it,
promised me the world and asked me to marry him. I was so ecstatic, I quickly
hugged him and said yes.
I call him Obi'm; he calls me Baby, Boo Boo or Wuwu.
I got attracted to him because he is very tidy, precise, has perfect manners, knows
how to treat a lady and is the most caring and compassionate person I'd ever
met. Honestly, he had me at 'hello'.
According to the Groom to be, he was attracted to
her because she is really smart and Intelligent, She could hold a conversation
on almost any topic and I could never stop talking to her, very honest and down
to earth.
The Bride to be loves his calm and compassionate nature,
his patience, his slim frame, his intelligent mind, his respect for people, and
his willingness to learn and listen to advice.
The Groom to be loves her honesty, her eagerness to learn
and her very caring nature. She is a lot of things I am not and wish I were, in
other words she completes me.
